When Ford re-introduced the Ranger people wanted Ford to offer a Raptor version of it. Now that Ford has released the photos and specs of the Maverick, people are again dreaming up ideas of a Maverick Raptor.

Personally I don't think the Maverick offers the elements needed to be worthy of a Raptor nameplate.

However, Ford has filed to trademark the name 'Rattler'. That could be a cool name for an off-road truck.

But then if you really think about it, snakes slither close to the ground and can move fast. The Cobra, which is also a snake, has been used by Ford on their performance vehicles. Maybe the Rattler will be a performance version of the Maverick.

Given its design, I think a performance version of the Maverick with a Rattler nameplate makes more sense.

I agree that Rattler would be more appropriate. Raptor would be more fitting to the Ranger platform is they are going to keep that name just for trucks but since the Maverick is a cross over, I don’t think it could live up to the name. It’s just not built for it.

Rattler is cool, But it will probably still be more like a Raptor than a Cobra.:(

So if Ford wants to stay with snake names, they can go with Python or Black Mamba.

Maybe Ford is testing out this hood scoop as part of the upcoming Rattler package? 🤷‍♂️

I think they(we) need a better option package name for Maverick, Raptor or Rattler seems to "off-roadish" and the Maverick will not compete in that arena
Maybe "pre-runnerish" in the true sense of that off-road format, but only in the SPEED and AWD categories, and price, a "pre-runner" was the inexpensive vehicle a racer would use to pre-run an off-road course to see where the dangerous places in the course were at

And with a Maverick it would just get the nick-name mini-Raptor or mini-Rattler

Needs something unique

North American definition of Maverick is an unbranded calf or yearling, or an unorthodox person that goes their own way, doesn't follow "the group"

Totally agree. The Rattler is a snake. the Maverick is Bodine. Ford playing Dr. Moraeu.
Maybe have the performance variant called "Pamplona" ???
or they could even revise the "Adrenaline" nameplate.

Although Ford recently applied for the name "SkyLine" which could have a "desert theme" to it.
